PERGE & ASPENDOS TOUR

13:00 Drive to the Perge Ancient City

Perge is a grand exhibit of what an ancient Greek and Roman city  looked like. Records date it back as far as the 4th BC. It was visited by Greek colonists after the Trojan War, by St. Paul and companions when  it was one of the leading cities of Pamphyilia, and fell under the  leadership of Alexander the Great and also the Byzantines.

16:00 Drive to the Aspendos Amphi Theatre

16:30 – 18:00 ASPENDOS

The town dates back to the 5th century BC. The theater, which was built in 155, was periodically repaired by the Seljuks who used it as a  CarvasanerI. Aspendos was built by the Aspendosian architect Zenon,  in Marcus Aurelius’ time. Aspendos is known for having the best-  preserved theater of antiquity. With diameter of 96 meters (315 ft), the theater provided seating for 7,000.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ANTALYA MUSEUM & CITY TOUR

The Antalya Museum or Antalya Archeological Museum is one of  Turkeys largest museums, located in Konyaal, Antalya. It includes 13 exhibition halls and an open air gallery. It covers an area of 7,000 m² and has 5000 works of art are exhibited. In addition a further 25 - 30,000 artifacts which cannot be displayed are in storage. As a museum exhibiting examples of works, which illuminate the history of the Mediterranean and Pamphylia regions in Anatolia, Antalya Museum is one of the most important of Turkey's museums. The Museum won the “European Council Special Prize” in 1988.

 

16:00 Drive to the Old city

16:30 – 18:00 OLD CITY

 

When Emperor Hadrian visited Antalya in 130 A.D. a beautifully decorated three-arched gate was built into the city walls in his honor. Near the marina the two towers flanking the gate and other sections of the walls still stand. The clock tower in Kalekapisi Square was also part of the old city's fortifications.
